THE Black Swan Royals need to beat the Paga Panthers tomorrow to claim the Port Moresby Rugby League minor premiership with two games remaining according to coach Steven Gunua.
Gunua said his team were five points clear of the nearest side which are Magani and a win in round 24 would wrap up their first place finish.
The defending champions are wary of a Panthers side that will be boosted with the return of Digicel Cup players from the Enga Mioks.
Gunua said his side were keen to wrap up the minor premiership before setting their sights on the major prize.
“We want to get that minor premiership out of the way but it will depend on us doing the little things right,” Gunua said.
“We’ve got some of our Digicel Cup guys coming back but Paga will also have their Digicel Cup boys back too so it will be interesting.
“Our game management and discipline heading into the finals and we’ll work on those areas in the final two rounds.”
Gunua commended Eddie Mase and Rex Kaupa for bearing the leadership role in the absence of the Digicel Cup players over the season.
“We can’t take it easy against Paga because at full strength they are still on one of the best teams in the competition.
“We know what Paga can do but I’m confident my boys will be able to handle that.”
In the other match, Souths need to beat West to stay in the top eight.
