ROYALS appointed Michael Bongro as their new president during the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) club’s annual general meeting (AGM) on Saturday.
Royals executive Steven Waula said the AGM saw Bongro succeed Brian Kombe.
“The AGM saw a good turnout from the members of the police force, our players and officials of POMRFL,” he said.
“It was important that we had everyone here and we managed to get the election of the president done.
“Now we will find time to sit down and discuss what the next move is for the club leading up to the new season. We also appreciate the support from members of the constabulary who were present as it has always been a tradition for this club to have the input and presence of members of the police force.
“We’d like to involve the police more in the club’s activities and programmes as we roll out our calendar for the year and we know the police will be behind us to continue this working relationship.”
Meanwhile, the POMRFL administration has reminded its 14 clubs to complete their affiliation requirements with club AGMs and reports listed as main requirements.
The POMRFL pre-season is expected to start next month with its administration ready to roll out the Covid-19 guidelines for a second season.
