PORT Moresby Rugby League competition leaders Royals beat Souths 28-12 in their round 18 clash at the National Football Stadium on Saturday.
Royals broke an 8-8 halftime deadlock in the 50th minute to break away for the win despite Souths scoring a late try.
Royals, the reigning champions, played much smarter than the opposition with a lower error count and better use of the football.
Royals’ Presley Soto, Legu Oala, Sanny Wabo and Supa George (2) scored tries while Eddie Mase kicked two goals.
Souths were their own worst enemy with poor set completions and a lack of structure to their attack.
With eight games remaining Royals lead the competition with Magani in second place.
