TEAM Heli Solutions claimed first prize in the Kumul Petroleum Holdings charity golf tournament on Friday at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club course.
Team SP Brewery came second while Mawa Lawyers were third.
The prizes were house hold items sponsored by corporate houses who showed their support for the charity event.
The tournament involved 44 teams who took part in the one-day four-man ambrose event.
Team registration added up to K142,000 while K18,000 was raised from the post tournament auctions and mini competitions.
From that event, KPL raised K160,000 for Life PNG Care.
Taking part in the tournament were corporate houses and individuals including Minister for Works Michael Nali and Minister for Education Nick Kuman — both men are avid golfers.
Competition consultant and master of ceremony Willie Kupo thanked the teams involved in the fundraising charity for underprivileged children in Port Moresby.
“Times are tough, especially with the economy not picking up but we thank everyone who supported this event,” Kupo said.
Kumul Petroleum managing director Wapu Sonk said the event was a success as it had raised a significant amount for the charity and thanked those who were involved.
Life PNG Care national director Collin Paka Yakio made an emotional speech about how he started the charity and the satisfaction he had got from helping the needy and underprivileged children of Port Moresby.
He thanked the teams and sponsors for supporting his charity and promised to continue the work of providing help and opportunities for those who needed it the most.
“Many issues affects PNG but by working together we can change the future,” he said.
