Sad moment for PNG

IT was a sad moment for many Papua New Guineans when news and pictures of our big bird crashing into the waters of the Federated States of Micronesia filtered through the media last weekend.
Personally, as a Papua New Guinean I could not believe that it happened.
Air Niugini, since 1975 has always been the pride of our nation with an unblemished safety record before this accident.
Sadly, one life was lost, and our bird, which proudly carried our name to the world displaying the symbol of a proud nation, will forever lie in a foreign land.
That is sad.
Well done captain and the crew for the safe evacuation of most of those who were on board.
To see the Bird of Paradise sink into a watery grave in another country was heartbreaking.
