SENDING an unseaworthy vessel to sea is an offence as it endangers lives, cargoes and the marine environment, according to the National Maritime Safety Authority.
General manager and chief executive officer Paul Unas was commenting on vessels operating between Serra and Aitape in West Sepik.
He said on Aug 2, a joint task force led by authority manager investigation and enforcement Joseph Pyawan, Vanimo ship inspector Aaron Tupa and police was assigned to investigate reports of unseaworthy vessels operating in the area.
