Salvos raise K100,000

Vanimo Jaya were crowned champions of the Red Shield Charity Golf at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club on Friday.
The event raised K100,000 which will go towards the Salvation Army’s work in helping people improve their living conditions in the country.
Vanimo Yaya — comprising Bobby Hoto, Morris Bai and Mathew Gawing — won three Callaway golf sets, three weekend accommodation packages and the Sir Brian Bell Perpetual Trophy.
Westpac Bank and the Mineral Resources Development Company finished second and third respectively.
A total of 25 teams competed in the three-ambrose event.
“We have a long, established experience of working in partnerships with the government, church and private sector,” the Salvation Army said in a statement.
“We believe that through partnerships, we can bring hope to our people.
“A big thank you to major sponsors Brian Bell, and supporting sponsors in Steamships Trading Company, Crowne Plaza, Monian Limited, Meat Haus, Theodist, Ela Motors, bmobile-Vodafone, Paradise Foods Limited, Super Value Stores, Moore Printing, BNG Trading, Bank South Pacific, RD Tuna, Credit Corporation and the Port Moresby Golf Club.”
