THE Sandaun provincial government is calling on the Government to complete ongoing projects in the province to improve the people’s standard of living.
Provincial administrator Conrad Tilau said this when presenting Sandaun five-year development on Tuesday in Port Moresby.
He said Sandaun’s five-year development plan focused on projects that would link service delivery with economic growth.
“What we have in the plan is all about infrastructure and also economic projects.
“These are important projects we think we can develop in the next three to five years so that we can change the face of the province,” Tilau said.
“The Government has also funded some key infrastructure project in the province which we want to also request that this project should be on-going until completed.
“For instance the Vanimo international airport development, the sanitation projects, and the international wharf.
“Also we have ongoing projects like the hospital development and other developments in the social sector.”
National Planning and Monitoring Department secretary Konny Samuel said West Sepik was an important province as it shared the border with Indonesia.
He said the department was looking forward to working with the provincial administration to support all its key projects.
He said it was important that all provinces, districts and local level governments submitted their plans so the department would be able to deliver on the key priority areas that captured in the Medium Term Development Plan Three.
“We would like to see all the provinces and districts align their plans to the MTDP3 so that we can deliver on the key indicators and targets.
“The Government cannot do that on its own and we are looking at the provinces and districts to support the government.”
He said 59 districts and 15 provinces have submitted their development plans to the department.
