MADANG governor Peter Yama and a delegation from the province presented the province’s acquittal report for 2017 and 2018 to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development yesterday.
Yama said it was the expenditure and physical reports of how funds were used in the two years.
He thanked the department for keeping MPs on their toes to be transparent with public funds.
Acting Secretary for Department of Implementation and Rural Development Aihi Vaki said putting together resources would create a big impact in the province in terms of development.
“You know your issues and you know your plans,” Vaki said.
“You have K10 million every year and for five years you have K50 million.”
Vaki said Midle Ramu was one of the districts in Madang that had caught the attention of the department.
He said there was so much money pumped into the district but nothing to show on the ground for it, according to the spending report.
Madang acting provincial administrator Joseph Bonomane said: “We have instructed all public servants serving in Middle Ramu to return to the district and work.”
