A DELEGATION from Sandaun provincial government visited the Eastern Highlands provincial administration to see some of the development initiatives undertaken there.
The delegation, led by provincial administrator Joseph Sungi, included programme managers and the Telefomin district administrator on an exchange programme to see what the EHP administration was doing in terms of service delivery and project implementation.
EHP administrator Munare Uyassi said the visit was the first of its kind and an important one for both provinces, adding that provinces would learn to improve their performance to effectively deliver basics goods and services to the people.
The Sandaun group  held discussions with all divisional advisers and toured the districts and project sites.
They also visited projects undertaken by Community Development, Agriculture and Livestock divisions and information dissemination programmes of EHP.
They were impressed to see many international development partners, donor agencies and non-governmental organisations established there.
The two administrations resolved to continue the exchange programmes to assist Sandaun province to set up its staff development programme and other programmes.
EHP deputy administrator Solomon Tato said a team from the province would travel to Vanimo for the same programme early next year.
