A LACK of accommodation for teaching staff at a school in Pomio, East New Britain, is being addressed, a school official says.
Warangoi Secondary School in the Pomio’s Sinivit local level government (LLG) has been affected by this issue, but, school board chairman Michael Malaga said a staff housing project had been initiated by the Pomio procurement committee.
He said the committee had tendered the project for the construction of the staff duplex which would cost K463,000.
Malaga said the school had raised the money to fund the construction from its project fees.
Pomio project officer Lester Kamit said the project was in its implementation stage, following the completion of required processes of design and documentation, planning and building board approvals, and tendering and awarding of contract.
Kamit said the project had been awarded to Turume Building and Construction, through a direct invitation tender process.
The project is expected to take five months to complete.
Kamit urged schools and other public institutions in the district to use the procurement committee.
