THE Port Moresby Grammar School will be hosting its musical, Diriman Stori, today under the theme “Rhythm of the Ages” to celebrate PNG’s 44 independence anniversary, deputy principal Stanis Sesega says.
“The musical is a celebration of the students’ talent hosted each year for those who go after their passion and can teach others a lesson in believing in themselves and having fun doing something they love,” Sesega said.
The musical would include dramas, recounts, plays, live performances and dance by students.
One particular play that would be featured is about a boy named Desmond and a girl named Janice, who live through a life of oblivion.
Both characters represent youths who live to enjoy the moment and not really aware of the world out there which can be cruel at times to mankind.
“Rhythm of the Ages” begins with musical genres of children’s literature and journeys through musical interests that may relate to different generations.
Messages portrayed are generally universal, Sesega said.
“We will conclude the show with our own PNG music as we commemorate the 44 years of our country’s independence,” Sesega said.
“The (two-hour) show will start at 7pm .
“Gates will open at 6pm with entertainment for an hour before the actual show.
“We will have the school band, Pacific Islands, the Philippines and Port Moresby Grammar School dance theatre performing.”
