THE Busu Secondary School in Lae will use a rotation mode of teaching to reduce class sizes for the sake of social distancing, says principal George Noble.
“We (have to) come up with bright ideas and effective strategies to catch up on the (six) weeks of missing classes,” Noble said.
The rotation plan will see a teacher remain in a room while the students move around from one subject centre to another. It allows students to draw up their own timetables.
Noble said the advantage was that teachers would not waste time moving from class to class, and writing notes on the black boards repeatedly. Teachers teaching the same grades can share resources too. It means grade 10 and 12 will have lessons from Monday to Thursday.
Grade 9 students will come on Friday. “If we work together and follow the instruction from the authorities, we can prevent this deadly disease from our country,” he said.
“Remember that your safety and health are our concern so stay safe, walk safe and learn safe.”
