School completes week-long Tvet teacher’s training course

National

THE Bulolo Technical School recently completed a week-long technical vocational education training (Tvet) for teachers.
The training involved curriculum officers led by assistant secretary for the Department of Education Wilson Garu and teachers from the school.
The training was to prepare Tvet teachers to conduct national certificate courses using the Tvet reform curriculum.
The areas of audit included teacher/trainer qualification, experience and number of teachers available, adequacy of infrastructure, tools, equipment and resources to effectively deliver the curriculum at a high standard and quality.
Garu said programmes at the school and other Tvet institutions around the country would be gradually phased out by 2021.
“After the training, teachers are ready for the implementation of the reform curriculum,” he said.
“Teachers will be able to deliver teaching and learning along international training delivery mode while conventional programmes and courses will be phased out.”
Garu said courses and programmes which met audit standards would be given approval using the reform curriculum.
Courses and programmes which failed to meet standards will be given time to build and improve capacities.
