ERAP Primary School in Huon Gulf, Morobe, has lost K15,000 worth of equipment in a break-in on Monday.
Deputy head teacher Oathley Omali said suspects broke through his office window and made off with two desktops which contained the school’s financial information among other documents.
Omali added that the suspects also stole two printers and other equipment which were stored in the office.
“We think the suspects entered the school at around 3am,” he said.
According to Omali, the matter was being investigated by local police. He said it was the first break-in at the school and the administration was hopeful the police would identify the suspects, arrest and charge them and have the equipment returned.
“This will be the first break and enter case encountered in the school,” Omali added.
Meanwhile, the community leaders have identified some suspects from the neighbouring community near Nadzab, who allegedly robbed a woman on the road leading into the school.
Community leaders have since called on the surrounding community to help identify and hand over the suspects and return the stolen property.
