THE University of Papua New Guinea’s school of law students and staff are expected to perform well to raise its standards this year, an official says.
Acting executive dean Professor John Luluaki said this during the room allocation of a new school of law building to the lecturers.
He said this was the first time the school had its own building.
Luluaki said they expected good results because they now had their own space to move around and perform.
“With this opportunity, we expect a mindset that can bring results higher than before,” he said.
Luluaki said this year, they expected 500 students to be enrolled and that included new intakes.
“I expect each of us to raise the bar in terms of performance commitment to academic life,” he said.
Luluaki told the lecturers to be more responsible in their conduct and show the students and parents where their performance stands were.
He clarified that the building was open in 2020 but due to some things needed to be fixed, they waited until Friday to allocate keys to the lecturers.
Deputy dean physical planning Canute Nidue said with the new building, it would give students and lecturers pride and confidence in their performance.
“That gives us sense of pride and we have a home of our own that we can conduct business freely and openly,” he said.
Nidue said now that they were moving away from the other schools, it would also enhance performance of both students and lecturers.
