THE Busu Secondary School in Lae held a two-day inter-school exhibition to showcase students’ talents, says school principal George Nobel.
The event which began in 2018 was cancelled in the past two years because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The exhibition this year included science and technology, arts and culture, tourism and hospitality, entertainment, agriculture and medicinal herbs, and public speaking.
Students conduct their own research and then impart their knowledge to other students at the exhibition.
Morobe Secondary School inspector Gibson Dom described the exhibition as unique.
“Such an event allows students the opportunity to showcase what they have learnt in class and from their own research,” he said.
“In our country, we don’t provide too many opportunities for our children.
“We must start providing them facilities and materials to enable them to think for themselves and come up with innovations like this.”
Morobe education programme adviser Keith Tangui said the success of the Busu exhibition held forced the Morobe education division to organise another one at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium on May 4 and 5.
“We have faith and confidence that what we are doing will be a morale booster for students and teachers of Morobe,” he said.
