KASANOMBE Primary School, in ward six of Nabak local level government in Nawaeb, Morobe, received K100,000 to build two teachers’ houses last Sunday.
The funding was made available by the Nawaeb development authority (DDA) for supporting education in the district.
Nawaeb MP and PNG Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) chairman Kennedy Wenge presented the cheque to the school’s board of management representative at Kasanombe village.
The school services five communities situated on steep valleys as well as other neighbouring villages.
“The DDA, in this term, has focused on education as one of its priority areas,” Wenge said.
“There are many primary and early childhood learning schools located in remote parts of the district.”
He also announced that a payment of K50,000 had been made to upgrade a local airstrip.
Wenge told the people that establishing a road-link connecting villages between ward three and six and others would be looked at this year.
He also presented four coffee pulping machines to Awen village in ward three on behalf of the DDA to help farmers process their coffee beans.
Wenge said the DDA was committed to helping local farmers through equipment, infrastructure and other support.
Many villages in Nabak LLG are situated at the foot of mountains and ridges that form the main Sarawaget Range making the construction of a road-link a difficult and expensive task.
