School starts year with dedication

THE Mendi Day Secondary School in Southern Highlands had an ideal start to this academic year with a dedication service yesterday.
Principal Paias Mario said teachers and students should be bound by strong Christian values and principles as education was vital to the country.
He said the recent inclusion of religious education in the mainstream curriculum as a compulsory subject from elementary to secondary was a good start.
Mario said he observed that the school administration, students and surrounding Unjiamap community needed God in their lives.
“The community needs to change and give their lives to God, the teachers and students need to be guided by Christian principals,” he said.
“Together, we will see significant changes at the school and in our lives.
“We will embrace Christian values and principles.”
