According to Kokonas Indastri Korporesen (KIK) officer for Pomio Theresa Yareng, Kambubu Secondary School is revamping its dryer at Matla planation to produce white copra. Yareng said the school’s administration sent a representative for training on white copra and other coconut products recently at Nongia ward in the Sinivit local level government.
She said after the training, the school administration indicated its interest to tap into the white copra production.
“They submitted the submission requesting the KIK team to facilitate trainings on white copra production and other high value coconut products,” Yareng said.
“The school will soon start the production of white copra and once it gets involved in the production of white copra, it will be able sustain its operations.”
Yareng said the KIK team conducted a one-day training on white copra production at the South Coast area of Sinivit and farmers in the area had shown interest. She said apart from conducting trainings, KIK had distributed more than 10,000 coconut seedlings for planting to all wards in Sinivit LLG.
