TAMBUL High School in Western Highlands is now a secondary school and will enroll its first Grade 11 intake next year, according to Governor Pais Wingti.

He commissioned the new secondary school during the annual graduation ceremony last Friday.

Wingti said he wanted to see more high and secondary schools in the province.

Wingti said Tambul High School would be extended and a double-storey girls’ dormitory built.

Wingti said under principal James Pini, the school had seen many changes.

He said it was one of the pioneer schools in the province and because it had good management, it deserved more support.

“There will be more funding and support given to each school and I want good management in place so that funds can be used for the right purposes,” Wingti said.

“If there is teamwork, development can easily reach the people.”

Pini said he wanted to develop education in the province.

“I have vast experience in running a school. I promise to see that the first Grade 12 graduation will be held in 2016,” he said.

Pini thanked Wingti and the provincial education board for their support in commissioning Tambul to become a secondary school.
