THE chairman of the Kabian Primary School in the Duke of Island local level government (LLG) of Kokopo, East New Britain, is appealing to the island’s people around the country to help raise money for the school.
Chairman Bogian Bunbun said the fundraising drive was for the school’s infrastructure such as new classrooms, a library and a teacher’s house.
Bunbun said classrooms and library books were infested with termites.
He commended former leaders on the island such as late Lesley Maneo, the former LLG president of Duke of York Island LLG, for helping put some money into renovation work on classrooms and current LLG president Isack Ilom for making a commitment of K2,000 towards a new teacher’s house.
He said from past experiences, the school did not get much tuition fee free funds.
