ALL schools, health facilities and churches in Tari-Pori, Hela, received funding from the district development authority (DDA) to improve their infrastructures toward the end of last year.
Schools received K100,000 each, health facilities K60,000 and all mainline churches K70,000 while smaller churches received K50,000 each.
Apart from the funding, more than 300 water tanks were distributed to the government and church institutions in the district.
Hangapo Primary School head teacher Howard Matiabe said his school’s allocation was used to construct a classroom building to house two classes.
The leftover funds would be used to improve other infrastructures in the school.
Matiabe told The National that the school plus two elementary schools at Hangapo ward two received a total of K150,000 and three water tanks.
He said many of the education, health and church facilities in the Tebi local level government area were closed and services disrupted after a series of tribal fights over the last few years.
