Strengthening governance will promote development: Wong

STRENGTHENING governance at the district level will promote economic development, Gazelle MP Jelta Wong says.
He was speaking at the Gazelle development authority’s first meeting of the year in their new conference room which was commissioned this week.
Wong said the district authority’s decision was to empower its public service, which was also in line with achieving the province’s key strategic result areas which were governance and management.
He said strengthening governance at the district level would promote economic development.
The construction work was undertaken by Jacom Building Construction Ltd at a cost of K200,000.
The building will also accommodate the district legislative assembly.
“This house is for leaders in the district to come and make laws for good governance for the good of the people of Gazelle,” Wong, who is Health Minister, said.
The Gazelle administration plans to refurbish the district office in the coming months.
