TWO elementary schools in Madang’s Transgogol have been selected to be part of the school community accountability agreement (SCAA) programme.
The programme is an initiative by the consultative implementation and monitoring council (CIMC) and the World Vision.
CIMC executive officer Wallis Yakam, who was at the launch of the programme at Barum Elementary School, said the two schools were part of 10 selected in Madang.
Yakam said CIMC worked closely with non-government organisations such as World Vision and Child Fund to develop and implement the programme to enhance communication, good school governance, information sharing, resource mobilisation, collaboration, support and commitment amongst all stakeholders to ensure elementary children attended classes regularly to achieve improved literacy and numeracy skills.
She said the concept was to see all parents, community leaders, teachers, school children and everyone in the village working together for their children’s academic success.
World Vision country programme director Heather MacLeod said the project was structured in a way that everyone must work together for achievements.
“It is a team work thing where everyone should be accountable,” she said.
“We should all keep our promise by working together with the donors, which is the Australian government, to ensure that the project is completed successfully.”
