Scuba diver crowned Miss Frangipani

ELLEN Morgan, 22, was crowned Miss Frangipani in Kokopo last weekend – 24 years after the last crowning in Rabaul.
Morgan, who works for the Kokopo Beach Bungalow, beat seven other contestants.
The certified scuba diver who takes tourists out to various locations in Kokopo and Rabaul in East New Britain said she was overwhelmed by the win.
“This is something out of my comfort zone,” she said.
“My thanks to a wonderful support team of family, friends and the Miss Frangipani organising committee.”
Gazelle MP Jelta Wonga said the Miss Frangipani festival would now be held annually.
The winner goes on to represent East New Britain in the Miss PNG Pacific Islands pageant.
Kokopo MP Emil Tammur committed K50,000 to next year’s pageant.
Chairperson of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (PNG) committee Molly O’Rourke welcomed the representation of provinces in the pageant.
“After all, our pageant is called Miss PNG.
“We are delighted that East New Britain has come on board to promote the province’s tourism potential with a brand ambassador every year.”
