Seafarers warned to check weather bulletins

EAST SEPIK police commander Robert Gesa, pictured, is urging people in the province to keep up to date with the weather news daily so that they do not put their lives at risk.
He was responding to changes in the weather patterns and the increase in natural disasters.
“It is also the concern of the police to look at the safety of people when it comes to disasters and factors that could endanger lives,” Gesa said.
“People should be listening to the radios and other media platforms to be up to date with what’s happening around the place for their safety.”
He urged people travelling by sea to exercise caution.
“It is important to take heed of important warnings from organisations like the disaster office as they help to prevent unnecessary loss of lives,” Gesa said.
He also urged people to report any sea accidents quickly to authorities so that assistance can be provided.
