Second lot of allowances for task-force officers banked

THE second lot of allowances for Apec Joint Security Task Force officers went to their bank accounts yesterday, according to Finance Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan.
The exception is the 100 officers who had submitted incorrect bank account details.
“The allowances were paid (yesterday) into their respective personal bank accounts, except for 100 rejects due to incorrect details,” Ngangan said.
“They will be corrected accordingly and processed again so everyone is paid.”
The first lot of K10.8 million was paid last week after the full list of officers was submitted to the Finance Department.
The second lot was also for K10.8 million.
A group of officers had stormed Parliament last Tuesday in protest over the late payment of allowances for the 18 days of the Apec security operations.
Ngangan told The National yesterday that the 100 “rejects” were due to the incorrect account details provided by the security officers.
He said while some had received their payments, there were still some who had not provided their full bank account details.
“So once those are received, their 18-day allowance will be paid to them,” he said.
Ngangan also made it clear that the Apec meeting had just ended and all outstanding payments for service providers would also be sorted out.
