KOIARI Park Secondary School in Port Moresby is one of the many organisations donating items to earthquake-stricken villagers in Southern Highlands and Hela.
One of its Grade 12 teachers Sonya Timano said students had been contributing items like clothes, cooking utensils, shoes, bags and toys.
“The donations were done as part of a Total Membership Involvement (TMI) programme for our students,” she said.
Timano said the programme provided an opportunity for the students to learn how to care for others, especially in sharing.
Meanwhile, Chimbu remains uninterrupted by earthquakes in the central Highlands area, says provincial administrator Joe Kunda.
He warned public servants in the districts working in schools, health and other government establishments not use the earthquake excuse to stay away from work.
“There are no reports of devastation in the province, no public servant should leave their work places giving excuses of the earthquake disaster,” Kunda said.
