Secretary wants governments to create spaces in schools

IT is a shared responsibility of the national and provincial governments to mobilise all their resources to address the limited spaces in schools, an official says.
Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra, in response to the plans of addressing those students who were qualified but not selected into any secondary school, said: “The simplest plan is we advocate and we want all provincial governments and our partners to build the capacity of schools, build more schools and we have to train more teachers.
“In that way, we allow for more spaces.”
Kombra said more students were not going into grade nine because of spaces.
He said this must be the aim for everyone under the new Government policy that everyone must finish grade 12, so there should be enough spaces from prep to grade 12.
“We encourage all other provinces to mobilise their resources they have so they can provide education opportunities for every child, such as Jiwaka is taking the lead.”
