Seek court resolution on disputes, says Kua

PEOPLE should take their disputes to the courts for a resolution in order to avoid tension, Petroleum Minister Kerenga Kua says.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Kua said the recent court challenge by Opposition Leader Belden Namah concerning the election of James Marape as the Prime Minister should to be commended because it set a good path for the society to follow.
He said the fact that Namah took the matter to court was an example that every society in the country should follow whenever a dispute arose.
Kua said people should not resolve disputes themselves because tensions may rise when people tried to solve their own disputes.
He said even people in the villages should bring their disputes to different types of court whether they be the district court or village court.
He commended Namah for taking the issue of the PM’s election to the court for its interpretation and response to questions raised.
Kua also commended the Supreme Court judges who gave priority to the case, saying that even though they were inundated with backlog of cases, they managed to expedite the case and write up a judgement dealing with Constitutional law.
“They had about three days and that’s a big effort on the part of the judiciary,” Kua said.
He said people should appreciate and express gratitude to the judiciary because it demonstrated that the judiciary was aware of their duties and responsibilities in giving priorities on cases that would have the potential to create problems in the society.

  • What does Kua expect Namah to do? Declare war on Marape? Since when did Namah respect the court system in PNG? Kua must have woken up from a deep slumber!
