PNG Kumuls captain James Segeyaro was named Man of the Match after their 26-14 win over Fiji.
It was his fifth time to don the Kumul colours and the crafty hooker from the Cronulla Sharks played 80-minutes and had a hand in two of his side’s four tries. At half time when his side led 26-4, he told Darren Lockyer of Channel Nine that they had to focus on the second 40 to prevent the Bati from coming back.
“We just need have to maintain what we did in the first half, complete our sets and then all we’ll be good,” Segeyaro said. Segeyaro was also emotional post match at the podium.
“First of all I want to thank Fiji, what a game and what a great atmosphere it is for the Pacific test.
“For all Pacific people to come to watch this match and see the good turn out, thank you very much.
“To my country men, my teammates, it’s just amazing, the World Cup was the best thing and coming to camp and to see your faces every day, to put the country’s jersey on and representing the 8 million people is been a moment I will remember for a life time,” he said with an emotional tone.
