SEIDA Raiders have advanced into the next stage of the knockouts of the 3 Suns Rigo Rugby League competition after belting Nanigos from Gunugau 20-4 on Saturday at the Kwikila Market oval.
The Raiders from Saroa ran out winners scoring four tries through Joko Mahuta.
Moki Leva scored under the uprights in the 20th minute after a clean break made by rampaging forward Chicko Mairi, while high flying winger Kingsly Henao touched down at the right hand corner on the halftime siren to see Seida taking the lead at the halftime break 16-0.
Leva, a Southern zone U19 representative, converted two of his sides’ four tries.
The Raiders were dominant right from the kickoff out playing the younger Nanigo outfit who committed too many unforced errors and could not build pressure as a result.
Raiders coach Fako Tau directed his players to focus on their defensive patterns in the second half to stave off a possible comeback which Raiders managed to follow through, limiting Nanigo to a lone try from hard working forward Maina Goyobu, who bulldozed his way from several metres out to score an unconverted try at the 60th minute.
Saroa did not get complacent as they kept their composure for the remainder of the match to advance to the next stage of the 3 Suns Rigo league competition.
In form Raider prop Mairi made another break down the side line to set up his winger Henry Mareva to score at the corner in the 77 minute to further increase their lead 20-4.
