Sepik climb to second on Northern Conference ladder after beating Raings

SEPIK FC climbed to second spot in the Northern Conference standings of the Women’s National Soccer League (WNSL) after a thrilling 3-0 victory over Markham Raings in round eight at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae on Saturday.
East Sepik side have so far proven to be genuine contenders in the conference and proved their superiority over the Raings with two goals by Sharylne Jagi and one to Leuvennah Karo to propel them up the ladder.
Bara was relegated to third spot on goal difference after their 1-2 loss to Tusbab Laidamon at Laiwaden Oval in Madang.
Meanwhile, Poro are eight points clear of Sepik FC and Bara after a 7-0 thrashing of Rainy Lae.
Northern Conference top goal scorer Meagan Gunemba picked up a brace of goals to cement her position on goal scorers’ list.
Morobe Tulip sit in the middle of the pack after a 1-0 win over Pacific Gardens FC from Eastern Highlands.

In the Southern Conference, FC Genesis maintained their top spot after a 1-1 draw with Hekari United FC. The result shows that both sides will be jostling for top spot in the south as the competition nears its finals.
In other results, Port Moresby City kept its third spot after smashing sister team, Port Moresby City Academy 7-0 while NCD FC beat Amoana 3-2.
