Serve with passion, staff told

 OFFICERS participating in the Government’s Graduate Development Programme have been told to serve with passion as a citizen of this country and not go after money.

While welcoming the new graduates, Department of Personnel Management Secretary John Kali said the programme was recommended that all departments, agencies and provincial administrations must participate in order to build an effective public service in terms of service deliverer to the development of this country, he said.

“The GDP is a key initiative of the national government,” Kali said.

“It is linked to pillar No. 3 of Vision 2050. The goal of GDP is to induct and develop future public service leaders into the public service and without limitation, equip them with values and principles of ethical behaviour and conduct that will enable them to become change agents for high performing and ethical workforce in the public service.

“The GDP will continue for 12 weeks. Graduates from respective departments and administrations will have a few weeks of theory, following practicals, where they will  be sent back to their correlated agencies and then returned again for the final stage,” he said. 

The programme first started in 2007 and this year is the sixth and has highest number of participants.  

Graduates attending are from Department of Justice and Attorney General, Department of Personnel Management, Papua New Guinea Institute of Public Administration, East Sepik provincial administration, and Fly River provincial administration.
