Settlers: Possessed dog attacked baby

 A DOG has been accused by a group of settlers in Mt Hagen of sorcery after it bit a baby boy’s penis inside the family home.

As punishment, the dog has been chained. 

The baby is recovering at the Mt Hagen hospital.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon at a settlement in Dark Street, Mt Hagen. 

Mt Hagen was where a woman accused of sorcery was burnt alive in public early this year.

Dark Street resident Robert Sali Kia said the mother of the baby had left him sleeping in the house and went to do her marketing between 1pm and 2pm. The dog entered the home and attacked the baby boy.

He said it was strange that a dog would do something like that.

Kia, a member of the Block committee, said when the baby cried out in pain on the bed, other people in the house alerted his mother Yuri Kansol who saw her son covered in blood and crying on the bed.

He was taken to the Mt Hagen hospital and admitted at the children’s ward.

He said the settlers accused the dog of possessing an evil spirit and chained it. 

The people in the house, who saw the dog run out, were shocked when they hear the baby crying.
