SEVEN employees of the Paladin security firm in Port Moresby have received certificates from National AIDS Council secretariat after a week-long training workshop on HIV.

Melynda Powaseu said that the information on HIV/AIDS had opened her mind to see those living with HIV treated as normal people.

She thanked the trainers from the NCD provincial AIDS Committee for sharing basic information on HIV – how it was transmitted and its impact globally and nationally.

This includes cross-cutting issues such as sex, gender, human rights, stigma and discrimination, plus reproductive health which is associated with HIV. “This information will help us deal with people living with HIV to seek employment with our company or if one of our workers resigns to care for a relative if diagnosed,” she said.
