Sevens spots still up

POSITIONS in the PNG Pukpuk Sevens team are up for grabs when players meet in the MRDC sponsored National Rugby Sevens tournament from Oct 24-25 at Bava Park in Port Moresby.
PNG Rugby Football Union chief Richard Sapias said the players would vie for selection in the PNG Sevens team, which would participate in the International Rugby Board-sanctioned Oceania Sevens in Tahiti on Nov 12-13.
He said the tournament would be slightly different this year with extended invitations to the Sevens Mini Games squad and the PNGRFU Development squad, who would be also fielding a team against the provincial teams.
Sapias said the invitation to the MRDC tournament had been extended to all provincial centres that had participated in past tournament to ensure that National Sevens coach Waisele Serevi could identify and select the best possible team for the Oceania Sevens tournament.
Provincial centres intending to participate are required to register their teams’ interest through Rugby PNG office by this Saturday.
