Sex offence against minors increasing

SEXUAL offences against minors are increasing in South Fly, Western, says provincial police commander Supt Brian Kombe.
Supt Kombe, who is also in-charge of the South-Middle Fly command, urges communities and families on the island of Daru and those on the mainland, to take care of their girls.
Kombe said based on recent police reports, a six-year-old girl was abducted from her house at Olmoata along the west coast of Daru while she was asleep.
The suspect, who was about 20 years old, broke into the house, took the girl out and raped her.
Kombe said the parents went out and left the girl with her four-year-old brother to sleep when the suspect broke in.
Kombe said another incident happened at Bamu Kona, southern end of Daru, where a 25-year-old man sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl.
He said both suspects were arrested, charged and in police custody.
“As you can see there is slight increase in sexually-related offences against minors and I am asking the community to take preventive measures,” Kombe said.
Meanwhile, three suspects were arrested and charged with assault for allegedly causing bodily harm to a PNG Customs officer and a shipping agent at Kadawa village along the South Fly coast.
The three males were released on bail.
Police are still looking for an Indonesian who allegedly slashed a Customs officer’s ear with a knife.
The Customs officer was in Kadawa doing routine inspections of illegal fishing when the incident happened.

  • PNG has to be the country with the highest number of sexual perverts. A very morally corrupt nation in the world
