THE Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority’s (PNGTPA) television show aims to promote local tourism in the country.
Called “‘A Million Different Journeys”, PNGTPA and host John Eggins take viewers across the country’s 22 provinces and regions of the country.
TPA director of marketing Alice Kuaningi said the show was aimed at informing the public about the tourism attractions and developments in the country.
“Even though our borders are closed to international travellers right now, there is still opportunity for our domestic travellers to explore and travel,” she said.
“There are so many wonderful places to stay, and so many exciting things to see and do in Papua New Guinea – that’s why PNG is the land of ‘A Million Different Journeys’.”
According to PNGTPA, the Covid-19 has had a tremendous impact on tourism in Papua New Guinea. This resulted in the tourism industry and the PNGTPA refocusing their marketing strategies by turning their attention towards the domestic market targeting Papua New Guineans and the expatriate community living in the country.
Through the tourism show, PNG TPA intends to encourage domestic travel by highlighting interesting travel and tourism stories in the country, especially local accommodation, tours and attractions.
A Million Different Journeys airs every week on NBC TV (Tuesday, 7.30pm, replayed on Thursday 7:30pm) and on EMTV (Wednesday, 8pm and replayed on Saturday at 5.30pm).
This PNG Independence Anniversary week, A Million Different Journeys takes viewers to the spectacular Chimbu, with an interesting feature of PNG’s highest mountain — Mt Wilhelm.
