Shut down schooling year
THE Government should shut down schools this year and start fresh in 2021.
Students and teachers nationwide are all in fear of being victimised by the coronavirus that is sweeping across the world.
Unless if the institutions have appropriate protective gears at their disposals, they can go ahead with resuming classes this year.
If the Government is not careful enough to take heed of serious preventative measures by closing down the schools, the country’s young population might not be safe from this fast spreading deadly sickness.
It is better to preserve the young generation of tomorrow now than lose them all to this deadly pandemic.
Other services can go ahead if the Government wishes to allow. However, the educational institutions must not be rushed into resuming classes this year.
The Government is urged to make a serious stand to close down the schools and start fresh next year when Convid-19 is better controlled.
Taking education early or late is just the same in one’s progress and shutting down 2020 academic year is to be seen as good for the country while faced with the global deadly pandemic right now on our shore.

Yes, Mr Inove, you are right one way in saying preserving the lives of the coming generations. Education will be still here today and tomorrow and future., however a single life only is lived once. The government should be very wise with using God’s given wisdom to make a favourable decision that will save the lives for today’s and tomorrow’s citizens of this beautiful country. The LORD looks down from heaven at mankind to see if there are any who are wise,any who worship Him.(Psalm 14:2). Ceasing the whole academic year (2020) is more wiser than ignorance and foolishness leading to disastrous effects on COVID -19 PANDEMIC in PNG . I strongly argue that 2020 academic year be fully suspended.
I totally agree with Mr Invoe and Martin. As we are all aware, about 90% of schools are over-crowded with students in 1 single classroom in public schools and many school children travel in public transports to and from their homes and school and will be very risky. So as a mother, I fully agree that 2020 school year should be halted until 2021 for all educational institutions.
