Sialum seen as ‘cowboy country’

Letters

SIALUM Station is the gazetted land for the Tewae-Siassi district headquarters.
More than five years ago, the station closed shop because there was no district administrator and other public servants.
Basic government services, especially that of law and order, has been missing for years. Sialum district headquarters and the council chamber at Kanome stand empty.
The only operating government facilities are the Sialum Health Centre and the Sialum High School. However, the security of the braves working the health centre and high school is not guaranteed.
Ongoing tribal fights, destruction to properties and killings is a result of no police presence.
Recent reports said about seven people were killed in Sialum, and this will get worse if not addressed.
Where is Morobe Governor Songan Wenge, the Tewai-Siassi leadership and the Morobe and Northern Command police chiefs?
Why are you all so silent? Who is responsible for plugging your lips?
The census is coming in June, to be followed by the LLG elections in July. What are you guys doing?

Binge Medep,
Sialum LLG
