Simbu transfers functions to districts to make public servants work

Simbu administration has transferred functions to the six districts during a district services rollout in Kundiawa last week.
During the pre-budget rollout plan, Simbu administrator Joe Kunda said there was no room for public servants to get paid for doing nothing.
“Many district public servants representing education, agriculture, economic sectors, health and transport infrastructures do not perform and referred matters to the provincial office,” Kunda said.
Provincial advisers indicated that they were prepared to transfer most of the functions to the districts to force public servants to perform their responsibilities.
Kunda said the provincial administration will transfer all its major functions to the districts this year for effective service delivery and public servants “lazing around” will be dismissed.
He tasked his sectional heads to outline their plans for the year to the provincial management team, provincial assembly, senior public servants, LLG presidents, district CEOs and staff.
Kunda said the national Government was serious about delivering services down to the district level, and Simbu should prepare and plan well to effectively implement the policy.
“We now have a structure in place; all responsibilities will be transferred down to the districts.
He said there were too many public servants doing nothing in Kundiawa.
“Sectional heads must act now and move to the districts which will have more responsibilities from now on, ”Kunda said.
