A SINGLE mother-of-two has been committed to stand trial in the National Court for allegedly applying to her own use K9,500 belonging to a Bank South Pacific customer.

The court was told that Samberi was a customer service officer at the BSP bank in Downtown, Lae, and a tenant of the complainant.
On July 16, the complainant went to the BSP main market branch to make a deposit when he discovered that there was less money in his savings account. He was informed that several withdrawals were made at the BSP Lae premium centre between May 14 and July 15, amounting to K23,500.
The court was told that Samberi admitted forging the signature of the complainant to withdraw the amounts.
She will appear before the National Court for mention in Oct 4.
District Court Magistrate Pious Tapil granted Samberi’s request to reduce her bail from K1,900 to K800 because she was a single mother of a young child.
