NAWAEB MP Gisuwat Siniwin has warned people in the district that there would be no short-cuts or cash handouts in the funding of projects.

He said instead actual funding would be allocated based on proposals.

“The proposals should be compiled by ward planning committees, endorsed by council presidents and managers, approved at the joint district planning and budget priority committee – no short-cuts and cash handouts,”  Siniwin said.

Siniwin was welcomed in a small ceremony by district programme advisors, managers and people after the election petition filed against him by Kennedy Wenge was dismissed in court on April 16.

The people watched as their MP was blessed by Pastor Tahake Siniwin with his new official vehicle. He will serve council areas including Wain-Erap, Nabak and Labuta.

A total of K766,000 in cheque for roads and fisheries projects and tertiary school fee assistance were handed out.

It included K16,000 for school fees at the Banz Lutheran College in Western Highland and primary schools, namely Gain K100,000, Bosa K100,000 and Bandong K50,000.

Yakasipeni Construction Company was given K100,000 to maintain the road from KGG (Busu Bridge) to Bandong village.

B&E Construction received K200,000 for the Moembring-Kasin road.

“There will be equal distribution of vital services to all communities within three LLG’s,” he said.

“Priority will be road and transportation systems to encourage people to work their land and use these services for own benefit.

“Never demand for compensation payments, allow road to pass through and electricity poles to be erected.”
