Siporo fight back from a set down to secure title

SIPORO came from a set down to beat Chilli in the Gunika Volleyball Association B-Grade grand final at Porebada, Central, on Saturday.
Club official Hua Maba told The National that their A-Grade, women’s and B-Grade teams made it to the playoffs.
“Each club (Siale, Apple, Nonu, Custard, Pineapple, Chilli, Grapes, Geabada, Vaivai and Siporo) competed over two rounds with the top-five teams in each division making the finals,” she said.
“Our three teams played their hearts out and made the finals.
“Unfortunately, our A-Grade and women’s teams lost in the semi-finals but Our B-Grade side made it to the grand final and won.”
Siporo and Chilli played a four-set game.
Siporo lost the first set but change their game plan to take the second and third.
Despite Chilli’s efforts in the final set, Siporo went on the claim the match.
“We worked hard all season to make the finals and we are proud that our B-Grade side won their grand final,” Maba said.
“I would like to thank games coordinator Momoru Modewa Lohia and association chairman Busina Lohia for a successful season.”
Maba also thanked Bank South Pacific for its sponsorship and Exxon Mobil for supporting the clubs.
