ABAU MP Sir Puka Temu has praised the Government for its commodity component of the tuition fee free education policy, saying it is a tool that will equip students and teachers.

Sir Puka, Minister for Public Service, said the component has proven the trust for the TFFE policy.

The commodity component was launched last week at Abau in Central.

“The Government has given all the tools that will make our teachers perform their best and students to achieve the highest academic standard,” he said.

“That is the trust of the policy. It will contribute to the dream of every child.”

Sir Puka said the policy was decisive that had taken away the burden on parents to pay school fees.

“Over K633 million is taken away from the parents and put on the shoulders of the Government,” he said.

“With the rollout of the commodity component, it will allow the Government to reach into the rural areas.”

Sir Puka said the Government deserved a ‘thank you’ and the only way to do so was to show responsibility.

“The best way to be responsible is for parents to make sure that your child is in school and for teachers to be on time, everyday at school.”
