UNITED Sisters proved too strong for Moni Plus Gazelle thrashing them 17-3 in their Port Moresby Women’s softball premier grade fixture at the Bisini diamonds on Saturday.
The reigning champions were faster, more skillful and mentally on their game as they scored one of their biggest wins.
Sisters with its seasoned campaigners in veteran Selina Karai, Georgina Mautu, Tessa Karai, Florence Daple, and Clare Wutt laid the foundation as they worked their way to a 6-2 lead after the third inning.
They turned on the points in the fourth (seven) and fifth frames (four) for a crushing win over Gazelle whose concentration, commitment and competitiveness took a dive in the second half of the clash.
Daple (3), Wutt (2), Mautu (2) and Tessa Karai (2) scored runs.
Meanwhile Gazelle’s Natasha Pilak, Naomi Totil, Matilda Pondriket, Navasha Pilak and Mila Totil were kept in check throughout the match by a sharp Sisters outfit.
Gazelle’s only run scorers were Navasha, Natasha Pilak and Totil.
