Six teams left in varsity league playoffs

THE University of PNG Rugby Football League competition heads into the second week of its finals with six teams remaining.
Chairman Sandis Tsaka Jr said last year’s finalists BBM Nokondi and Veari Spiders have booked semifinals spots after the Spiders beat minor premiers SBA Eagles 8-0 and Nokondis beat UPNG Tigers 14-8 in extra time last week.
The second semifinal qualifier is on Saturday between the HRM Hawks and SBA Eagles
The winner of Hawks-Eagles fixture advances to face the Noknodis in the semifinal after Nokondis Hetura Cyclones 10-8 in theeliminator over the weekend at the Uni rugby league oval.
Arts Warriors are confirmed for the semifinal this weekend after comfortably beating newcomers Jubilee Institute 26-4.
The Warriors take on the Tigers in the second match of the semifinal qualifier to decide who meets the Spiders in the major semi final.
“All the preliminary finals will be on the following weekend and the grand final will on Independence weekend,” Tsaka Jr said.
