SNIPERS beat Vailima 3-1 to register their second win of the season in round nine of the National Capital District Volleyball Association competition on Saturday.
The Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre clash saw Snipers dominate with an early 11-point margin in the first frame of the 25-14 victory.
Skipper Maria Karo led the team well in their quest to improve their position on the women’s ladder.
Last-placed Vailima found their rhythm in the second set through hitters Linda Keneke, Sariva Numa and Lona Vavine.
Vailima’s responded with a convincing 25-17 win as the game intensified.
The second-frame victory boosted Vailima, but Snipers’ re-grouped as they looked to add to their one win so far this season.
Experience Karo stepped up in the third set and managed to get Snipers back on track as they targeted Vailima in the midcourt.
The young Snipers outfit delivered a solid performance to claim the third (25-20) and fourth sets (25-16).
With a much-needed win, Snipers have now booked the sixth spot on the seven-team ladder after a slow start to the season.
“This is a boost for our next game,” Karo said.
“Our team is dominated by youngsters who are rookies at this level. But we hope to continue this kind of performance to help us finish in the top-four.”
Meanwhile, Vailima remain winless.
